Thank You Letters

Preface: I am a relatively decent human being. I am generally kind to most people. I appreciate those who appreciate what I do for them and I appreciate those who do things for me.

Rant: Some people who are superior to me are chiding me for not having written "thank you cards" to everyone who got me something for Christmas. Its not that Im not thankful, I just think that its stupid that people think that they need some card to prove to other people (in writing) that I have thanked them. Its like: "Oh, look! He actually thanked me! Can you believe it?" It is ridiculous. And besides, since "thank you cards" have become a tradition, they have lost all meaning. Whoever wrote the first thank you card probably really appreciated whatever they got. But now its just a chore and it means nothing. Thats right: it means nothing. To all of you out there who still think that it means something, I am here today to tell you that you are wrong. It does not. It does not mean that I really do appreciate your donation to The Correct One, it does not mean that I love you and acknowledge your existence. It just means that I feel obligated to write this BSd drivvel down because society has written it into my brain that it is necessary. There either should have been or already was a Seinfeld episode about this. I cant remember...I do appreciate Jerrys comedy though. Maybe Ill write him a card....

Friend?

I recently earned my Eagle Scout award. It is the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America program, and it is achieved by less than 1% of all scouts, so it is a high rank and honor, indeed. It took a lot of hard work and determination on my part, including the planning, organizing, and executing of a community service project. My best friend, also a boy scout and currently working on his Eagle (you, my dear readers, will come to know him as "The Egotistical One,"), could not and did not help me during any stage of my Eagle project. I was ok with this. He had a relatively good excuse (he was preparing for a play), so I let it slide. But now that he is working on his project, I have donated over 15 hours of my valuable time. I have never received a thank you or even an apology for not helping on my project. What kind of a friend is that?

Late to work

So the other day I was late to work for the first time in my life. I have an aversion to being late. My great great grandmother was five minutes late for the Titanic, and I am only alive because of her tardiness, so really I shouldnt even be here wasting everyones valuable web space. So I have made it my personal goal and duty to be early or on time to everything. But I was late to work by a whole half hour. I felt terrible. My entire shift went wrong and I just didnt feel comfortable. Moral of the story is, I need to be a better human being by valuing punctuality much more than I currently do.

Im Back

Holy crap. It has been hecka forever since I last posted. Anyway, I guess what I want to talk about today is the upsets in the football world yesterday. Before the weekend started, I picked all the top four seeds to win. After Saturday, I was feeling really good. But then Sunday came. The San Diego-Indianapolis game was one of the best that I have ever seen in my life. It was back and forth, high scoring, fantastic hitting. It was just awesome. Then the Giant-Cowboy game also proved me wrong. So we are left with the Giants verses the Packers and the Patriots versus the Chargers. So now for my bold predictions: New England will destroy San Diego. Green Bay will destroy New York. Both of those predictions are given without any hesitation. I do not see any possible way for either San Diego or New York to win next weekend. It just wont happen. But my Super Bowl pick now I guess would have to be Green Bay over the Patriots. I just think that it would be perfectly fitting for the Patriots to be one game away from the greatest season in sports history, only to lose to the aging Brett Favre, at which point he will retire, on top of his game, leaving the door open for Aaron Rodgers to step in next year as a Phil Rivers of last year and lead an already good Packer team back to the playoffs. I can see how New England could win, though....
